In December last year, Joshua Cheptigi of Yungada, who made the world record in the ten km road race, also made a new world record in the five km road race. 23-year-old Joshua, world champion of the ten thousand meter race, has made a new record by completing five km road race in Monaco in 12 minutes 51 seconds.
According to reports, he broke the record of Ronx Kitruto of Kenya (13.18 seconds) by 27 seconds which he made in Valencia last month. France's Jimmy Grasier (13.18 seconds) finished second with the European record and Nick Golub (13.27 seconds) finished third with the British record.
For your information, let us tell you that Joshua broke the world record of 26 minutes 44 seconds made in 2009 by Leonard Komon of Kenya by taking 26:38 seconds in the ten km road race in December.
