Bhubaneswar: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed universities across the country to establish an office for international affairs in their respective campuses.
In a letter, UGC secretary Rajnish Jain has asked the vice-chancellors of universities to take the necessary steps for setting up the international affairs office and share information by February 15, 2021.
It is pertinent to mention here that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 lay emphasis on expanding the global outreach of Indian Higher Education Institutions by promoting India as a global study destination. The Policy also focuses on intensive academic and research collaboration with foreign Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).
“The establishment of office for international affairs in each university will be an integral part of internalization of higher education in India,” the UGC letter read.
