Ujjain is famous for the Mahakaleshwar Temple as well as the Nagchandreshwar Temple. This temple is dedicated to Nagdevata and the special thing is that it opens only once a year and that too on the special occasion of Nag Panchami.

According to religious belief, devotees come from different cities and states to worship at this temple on the occasion of Nag Panchami, and on this day, people get rid of Sarp Dosh by worshipping in this temple. It is also mentioned in the Puranas that by worshipping in this temple on the day of Nag Panchami, one gets freedom from Nag Sarp Dosh.

This temple holds its special place and importance in the temples of Nag Devta in India. On the day of Nag Panchami, Nag Devta is worshipped in the temple with complete rituals. Talking about the idol in the temple, it has Shiva and Mata Parvati Viraje in the shadow of Sheshnag.

It is also said that Puri is the only temple located in Ujjain in the world, in which such wonderful idols of Shiva and Parvati are seen. Nagachandreshwar Temple is present in the third section in the premises of Mahakaleshwar Temple. Talking about Nag Panchami of the year 2020, this year Nag Panchami will be celebrated on Saturday, 25 July.
