UK foreign Secy meets Jaishankar, What's Agenda?

New Delhi: UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly met with External Affairs Minister  Dr. S. Jaishankar of India on Wednesday. March 1,  ahead  of the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting to discuss the development of the UK-India 2030 Roadmap, which was signed in 2021 and aims to strengthen bilateral ties in the areas of business and trade, security, and defence.

The Young Professional Programme, an ambitious new cooperation between the UK and India that grants up to 3,000 Britons and 3,000 Indians the opportunity to live and work in the other country for up to two years, was also discussed.
For the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting, slated for March 1-2, cleverly is in New Delhi.

The appointment of the UK's first tech envoy to the Indo-Pacific region, who would prioritise strengthening ties with India, will also be announced by the foreign secretary. This ambassador is the second of its sort that the UK has announced (after the selection of a tech envoy to the US in late 2020), and it shows the country's dedication to the area and digital diplomacy.

The representative will collaborate with the UK's allies in the area on issues of common concern, such as establishing international technology standards and assisting in problem-solving using cutting-edge technology.

"India is a very significant partner for the UK, and the closer relations we are developing now will assist to strengthen our sectors in the future and grow the UK economy, "Previously, Cleverly had stated.

"India is also a fast-rising technological power, and there are countless potential for us to work together more effectively. Because of this, we will base our first Tech Envoy in the Indo-Pacific area to fully utilise both nations' technological capabilities" he said.
