Ahmedabad: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday met with Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on his two-day visit to India. UK PM Johnson arrived in Gujarat today for a two-day visit to India. At Ahmedabad's airport, he was greeted with pomp and circumstance. Johnson paid a visit to Sabarmati Ashram during his visit.
Sabarmati Ashram will also present the UK Prime Minister with a copy of 'Guide to London,' one of Mahatma Gandhi's first few unpublished works. Sabarmati Ashram will present Boris Johnson with 'The Spirit's Pilgrimage,' the autobiography of Madeleine Slade or Mirabehn, who became Mahatma Gandhi's disciple.
Johnson's two-day visit to India will focus on increasing Indo-Pacific cooperation, as well as lending momentum to negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries. Johnson began his trip in Ahmedabad, where he will meet with top business executives to discuss the UK and India's booming commercial, trade, and people-to-people ties.
This is the first visit by a British Prime Minister to Gujarat, India's fifth-largest state and ancestral home of about half of the UK's British-Indian community. Johnson will announce a slew of commercial agreements and hold bilateral talks with Indian officials, with an emphasis on the UK-India trade, investment, and technology collaboration.
