KIEV: Ukrainian authorities stated that four cities in the Sumy area, where fierce combat has raged since Russia's war began on February 24, will run evacuation corridors.
Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, stated the routes from Konotop, Shostka, Trostyanets, and Lebedyn will be operating from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in a social media post. The region was not evacuated on Monday owing to ongoing Russian attacks, according to the Ukayinska Pravda newspaper.
Last week, 5,000 residents were evacuated from Sumy via a humanitarian corridor to Poltava, including 1,700 foreign students, many of whom were from India.
Since Russia invaded, Sumy, which is located near the Russian border, has been subjected to intense shelling, with reports of power and water being cut off.
