KIEV: During their talks in Kiev, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said he discussed his country's post-conflict reconstruction with German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze.

After the meetings, Shmyhal wrote on Telegram, "Ukraine needs to restore the infrastructure in the liberated territories as soon as possible to enable normal logistics and operation of industries."

Shmyhal was quoted by the Xinhua news agency as adding that financial support for small and medium-sized firms will help stabilise the Ukrainian economy. The prime minister said he discussed the results of the Group of Seven (G7) development ministers' meeting in Berlin last week with Schulze and urged the G7 countries to take the lead in reconstructing Ukraine.

Shmyhal said he informed Schulze about United24 (U24), a global forum for collecting philanthropic donations in support of Ukraine. Furthermore, Shmyhal stated that Kiev expects Germany to promote Ukraine's European integration.

Ukraine, for its part, is ready to contribute to the European Union's food security, energy transition, digitalization, and collective security, as well as provide a new prospective market for European goods, according to Shmyhal.
