KIEV: Ukraine is seeking USD5 billion per month from the International Monetary Fund, according to Ukrainian media outlet Hromadske, citing Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"We're talking about USD 5 billion per month; both the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank have confirmed the need for this amount. These are the funds that Ukraine's budget requires in order to meet all of our social and humanitarian obligations "Shmyhal stated this on Wednesday.

He added that the IMF has already established a special administrative account through which Ukraine's partners will provide assistance to Kiev in the form of grants and loans.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden will deliver remarks in support of Ukraine on Thursday morning, according to the White House. "The President will deliver remarks on support for Ukrainians defending their country and freedom against Russia's brutal war," the White House said.
