CANADA: In the midst of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand stated on Tuesday that Canada would donate 20,000 artillery rounds of 155 mm NATO standard ammunition, including fuses and charge bags, to Ukraine's military.

"Canada supports Ukraine and its people in their fight against Putin's illegal and unjustified aggression. Our steadfast commitment to providing Ukraine with the comprehensive military assistance it requires to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence is demonstrated once again by today's announcement "Canada's Minister of National Defence, Anita Anand, stated.

\According to a Canadian news release, the ammunition was sourced from the United States at a cost of up to $98 million, and work is underway to have this much-needed relief expedited and sent to Ukraine as soon as possible. "We are delivering more military equipment to Ukraine's military to support them as they continue to resist Russia's unlawful invasion," the Canadian Prime Minister tweeted, notifying the world about the aid.

This ammunition will be launched from guns delivered to Ukrainian forces by Canada and its allies, notably M777 howitzers, for which Canadian Armed Forces members provided training to their Ukrainian counterparts. Tactics, improvised explosive device disposal, sniping, reconnaissance, and medical are among the topics covered by the Canadian soldiers.

Following the announcement of USD 500 million in new military assistance funds for Ukraine in Budget 2022, the Canadian government is seeking more military assistance to fulfil Ukraine's immediate and long-term needs.
