High Authorities in Ukraine have evacuated six lions and six tigers. The large cats were evacuated from a zoo in Kyiv and sent to the Poznan Zoo in Poland. Authorities also had to evacuate two wild cats and a wild dog.
The animals were loaded into a lorry and transported to Poland in 2 days. According to Malgorzata Chodyla, a Ukrainian lorry drove the animals nearly 1000 kilometres to the Polish border, avoiding the Zhytomyr area, which has been bombarded by invading Russian soldiers.
During their drive, the lorry had to make a pit stop just in front of a convoy of Russian tanks. The animals were loaded onto a Polish lorry at the border.
