UN Special Envoy for Yemen is received by UAE president's advisor

Dubai: Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the President of the United Arab Emirates, met with Hans Grundberg, the United Nations Special Representative for Yemen, on Tuesday.

According to state agency WAM, Gargash and Grundberg spoke about the recent changes in Yemen's ongoing crisis and international efforts to find a peaceful solution to the issue.

The two also discussed Grundberg's recent discussions with international parties about extending the ceasefire in Yemen to achieve a longer-term ceasefire.

During the talks, Gargash reaffirmed the UAE's support for UN initiatives to bring stability to the war-torn nation and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, who endure "devastating humanitarian conditions".

The UAE's diplomatic adviser emphasized Saudi Arabia's support for the UN's efforts to find a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

Gargash responded positively to the detail of "the positive response of the Yemeni government to the suggestions of the United Nations". During his conversation with Grundberg, he "reaffirmed his support for the Presidential Council of Yemen."

The UN Special Envoy at the same time praised the UAE's contribution to finding a peaceful solution in Yemen.
