New Delhi: Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, and Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, launched a direct flight from Bilaspur to Indore.

As of October 3, 2022, the flight will run between Bilaspur-Indore-Bilaspur. It will serve this route every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Around 11.35 am on Monday, the Alliance Air flight operated by the government of the Centre departed for Indore. There were fifty people on board the 72-seater aircraft. According to officials, the plane would fly on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

"This new air connectivity would facilitate residents of both states and contribute to the economic development of the areas," said Jyotiraditya Scindia, minister of civil aviation, in his speech. Scindia pledged that the Center would provide all necessary technical assistance for the expansion of Bilaspur Airport and urged attendees to make the most of the available flying services because earlier flights had to be cancelled owing to insufficient demand.

The Minister also said that by 2026, the Ministry hopes to operationalize 200 locations, including heliports and water aerodromes. The national government is dedicated to expanding the civil aviation industry and enhancing air connectivity throughout the entire nation.

Bilaspur and Indore are considered major cities in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh respectively. The region's trade and tourism industries will benefit from improved air connectivity between these cities, which will also support the region's general economic growth.

Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister, said that improved air service between Bilaspur and Indore will speed up development and provide convenience for residents of Bilaspur who would otherwise have to drive to Raipur to get a flight.

Baghel claimed that the state government was working to increase and enhance the state's air transport services.
