United kingdom warns china over violating an agreement on Hongkong

London: The tension between the United Kingdom and China over the Hong Kong case is deepening. Britain's Foreign Minister Dominic Raab has said on Tuesday that he cannot be trusted in view of China's antics. Domenic has further said that after China's new national security law is introduced in Hong Kong, it cannot be trusted with international obligations. Please tell that Hong Kong has been a colony of Britain.

When Britain gave Hong Kong to Beijing in 1997, it spoke of giving the city autonomy at least until 2047. But China is violating the historic agreement with Britain by bringing new security law. Raab said that China had promised to maintain Hong Kong's autonomy and independence. This was a matter of mutual trust and now many countries are raising the question whether China fulfills its international commitments? When China does not keep its promise about Hong Kong, how can it be believed when it comes to a big international obligation?

This sharp reaction of Raab came after that statement by the Chinese Ambassador to Britain. Chinese Ambassador Liu Xiaoming accused Britain of interfering in China's internal politics over the Hong Kong case. In fact, Britain has opened the way for Hong Kong's three and a half million British passport holders and about 26 lakh others to settle in Britain for five years. On completion of six years, they can also apply for UK citizenship.
