Roadways buses will run in Uttarakhand on 83 routes from June 25

Operation of roadways buses in Uttarakhand will start from June 25. This decision was taken at the board meeting of Transport Corporation held on Tuesday. Earlier, the government had decided to double the fare of roadways buses. Buses will be operated on 37 routes of Dehradun division, 36 of Nainital division, and 10 routes of Tanakpur division. As of now, NOC has not been able to operate buses to other states. Hence, the board meeting of the Transport Corporation chaired by Chief Secretary Omprakash approved the operation of buses. According to the decision taken in the board meeting, in the first phase, only buses will be operated on select 83 routes in the state.

As the number of passengers increases, the number of buses will be increased. The issue of transferring the corporation's land on Haridwar Road to the Urban Development Department under the Smart City Project was also discussed in the meeting. It was agreed among the board members that in the event of the workshop land being acquired, the Transport Corporation should be given the acquisition price of the land or the Transport Corporation should be given the land ownership of ISBT in lieu of the said land. It was agreed among the members that a proposal in this regard should be sent to the government.

In addition to the state, there was a churn on running roadways buses to various states including Delhi, UP. It was decided that as of now no NOC has been received from any other state. Hence, buses will not be operated for other states at present. The board meeting was attended by all the board members including Additional Chief Secretary Omprakash, Transport Corporation Managing Director Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Secretary RK Sudhanshu. 74 crore for 300 new buses purchased from Tata and Ashok Leyland companies on behalf of Transport Corporation in the board meeting. It was decided that the Transport Corporation management would take a loan of Rs 74 crore from ICICI and Hudco Bank.
