Lucknow: This is relief news for Bundelkhand and Vindhya region, which has been facing a water crisis for many years. Pure drinking water will be provided to the population of these areas through pipes. Where this scheme, designed for all rural areas, is going to start from a total of 9 villages in these 2 areas. The cabinet approved the proposal on Tuesday. To provide drinking water through pipes in Bundelkhand and Vindhya region, the government has made a provision of Rs 3000 crore in the budget of the current financial year.

An estimate of 86 thousand crore rupees was made to provide pure drinking water through 100% pipe to all rural areas of Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi government is going to start implementing the scheme from those areas where there is a lot of drinking water problems. Pure piped drinking water is to be delivered in a phased manner to all the population of Bundelkhand and Vindhya region and villages suffering from arsenic, fluoride, Japanese encephalitis, acute encephalitis syndrome. Based on the scope of work and feasibility report under the project, 4 consultancy firms have been selected to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) of the scheme in a total of nine districts of Bundelkhand and Vindhya region.

According to sources, to ensure the quality of the scheme, a third party inspection will be arranged. For 10 years, operations and maintenance will be done by the respective executive firms. In lieu of this, the public user will be charged. The government spokesman said that if the user charge is not able to operate and maintain, then the remaining amount will be arranged from the budget. The cabinet should also approve the proposal regarding the deployment and deputation of officers of the Jal Nigam and Irrigation Department.
