Lucknow: In a significant move to combat environmental pollution, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to establish a Bioplastic Park with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore. This park will span 1,000 hectares in Kumbhi village, Gola Gokarnnath tehsil, Lakhimpur Kheri district. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mandated that the project be expedited to completion. Developed by Balrampur Sugar Mill Firm, the Bioplastic Park will create numerous job opportunities and encourage the establishment of supporting industries in the region.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) will act as the nodal agency for the park's development. Bioplastic, also known as natural plastic, is derived from natural materials such as corn, sunflower, or sugar beet. It decomposes quickly, significantly reducing environmental pollution. Bioplastic not only supports environmental sustainability but also has applications in various industries such as packaging, ready-made garments, electronics, and other industrial products. Its use helps mitigate the threat of plastic pollution and can greatly enhance environmental conditions.

The establishment of the Bioplastic Park will generate new job opportunities in scientific and technical fields and serve as a hub for scientists and researchers to advance plastic manufacturing capabilities using state-of-the-art technologies and research. The park will focus on developing and studying various plastic-related technologies.

Notably, the scientific research conducted at the park will lead to the development of new technological products for the effective use and recycling of plastic. This research aims to address environmental problems caused by plastic, explore the latest techniques to reduce plastic pollution, and recycle contaminated plastic.
