LUCKNOW: The Yogi Adityanath administration has put into place the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System (LADCS) under the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority for a two-year period in order to offer free legal assistance to the state's citizens and settle minor disputes by coming to a compromise.

As per the government spokesman, The government's goal in adopting LADCS  is to strengthen court-based legal services in order to give strong and competent legal representation to the poor and disadvantaged groups in society.

The state administration has urged the populace to make use of this system to ensure that they can receive legal assistance in criminal cases along the lines of the public defender system.

At the levels of chief, deputy, and assistant counsels, the general public will receive legal help through the LADCS system. To those who qualify, LADCS aspires to offer superior and knowledgeable legal services in criminal matters. Members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC&ST) will benefit from this.

Numerous people, including women, daughters, and children who are victims in the state, people with disabilities like blindness, leprosy, deafness, mental weakness, etc., nomads, industrial workers, juvenile offenders (boys under the age of 18), and people in custody will benefit from LADCS.

People who have experienced natural disasters, caste-based violence, class-based discrimination, floods, droughts, earthquakes, or industrial disasters will also be eligible for assistance, as will those who are mentally ill and have been admitted to a safe house, mental hospital, or nursing home, as well as those with an annual income of less than Rs 3 lakh.
