LUCKNOW: A one-month-long campaign against communicable diseases will be launched by the Uttar Pradesh government on October 1. 11 agencies will oversee the encephalitis and vector-borne disease prevention programme, said a government spokesman.

The medical and health departments, the departments of urban development, panchayati raj, and rural development, the departments of education and medical education, agriculture and irrigation, animal husbandry, the department empowering persons with disabilities, horticulture, and information have all been given instructions to prepare an action plan.

The Dastak campaign will also run from October 7 to October 21. As part of the campaign, staff from ASHA and Anganwadi will knock on doors to find people who are unwell with TB, the flu, fever, malnutrition, and other influenza-like conditions.

At the state level, nodal officers will be chosen from each department.

As per press statemnt, ncreasing public awareness of vector management, hygiene, rubbish disposal, reducing water logging, and the accessibility of clear drinking water is a key component of the campaign. As part of the campaign, zinc tablets, ORS packets, and chlorine tablets to cleanse water will be distributed door to door in consideration of the cases of acute diarrhoea.

The education department will hold poster, debate, and quiz contests to increase awareness of vector-borne diseases, and the department of empowering people with disabilities will conduct a survey.

To commemorate the program's fourth anniversary on September 23, an Ayushman fortnight will begin on September 15. The two-week initiative aims to guarantee that all qualified individuals receive their Ayushman cards.

State Chief Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra said that ASHA and Anganwadi staff will tell eligible households about camps and conduct them in villages.
