LUCKNOW: In a bid to make Uttar Pradesh a leading State in the field of milk development and milk production, the State Government has launched the Nand Baba Milk Mission scheme at a cost of Rs1,000 crore.

The Nand Baba Milk Mission scheme, which was opened on June 6, has been implemented to provide milk producers the facility of selling their milk at affordable price in villages through dairy co-operative societies.

Dharampal Singh, Cabinet Minister and head of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department said that the department was constantly working to ensure the growth of the rural economy in the State, to pay farmers a fair price for their milk, and to fortify the agro-based infrastructure. Uttar Pradesh will upgrade outdated school buildings and aggressively enforce ID requirements in hotels.

In order to facilitate the selling of milk in the producers' villages themselves, it is recommended to establish the Dairy Farmer Producer Organisation (Dairy FPO) under the terms of this mission.

In the fiscal year 2023–2024, it is intended to establish five dairy FPOs in as many state districts as a pilot project, in which women would also play a significant part.

A 'Dairy Development Portal' and the Nand Baba Mission logo have also been launched in addition to the Nand Baba Milk Mission's office opening in Kisan Gomtinagar.

Nand Baba Milk Mission is a charitable initiative that focuses on providing quality milk to underprivileged children and communities. Named after Nand Baba, the foster father of Lord Krishna in Hindu mythology, this mission aims to address the issue of malnutrition and improve the overall health and well-being of children in need.

The mission operates by establishing milk collection centers where farmers and dairy suppliers can donate surplus milk. The collected milk is then processed and distributed to various orphanages, schools, and NGOs working with marginalized communities. The objective is to ensure that children receive adequate nutrition through the consumption of fresh and nutritious milk.

Nand Baba Milk Mission not only contributes to combating malnutrition but also promotes sustainable livelihoods for local dairy farmers. By encouraging milk donations and establishing fair trade practices, the mission supports the dairy industry and the economic growth of the communities involved. The mission also emphasizes the importance of education and health awareness. Alongside milk distribution, educational programs and health campaigns are organized to educate beneficiaries on nutrition, hygiene, and overall well-being.

Through its efforts, Nand Baba Milk Mission strives to create a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged children and communities by nourishing them with a vital source of nutrition and promoting their holistic development.
