BIJNOR: A Tiranga yatra being undertaken by a government primary school on a tractor-trolley at Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly disrupted by villagers after it struck a pole near a house which led to an altercation between local people and teachers.
Later, police intervened to put the situation under control, and both the school administration and local residents filed complaints.
Raghvendra Singh, the school's headmaster, said: "Over a hundred children participated in the yatra. Our tractor-trolley collided with a house pillar on the way back to school after conducting a tour of the village. The owner complained and became enraged. He contacted his family and neighbours. More than a dozen locals gathered and attacked us with sticks and stones. We have filed a formal complaint against the defendant." The owner objected and got angry and called his family members and neighbours. More than a dozen villagers gathered and attacked us with sticks, and even hurled stones at us. We have filed a complaint against the accused", he repeated.
The villagers, however, have denied all the allegations.
Arun Kumar, the Gajraula circle officer, said: "The conflict erupted after a tractor-trolley collided with a house pillar, inflicting minor damage. Nobody desecrated the national flag. Both organisations have filed complaints with the police. The situation is being looked into."
