Lucknow: The Kanpur police have arrested another man who had sheltered Vikas Dubey, a notorious accused in the Bikru case, and his accused accomplices from Kanpur Dehat in Uttar Pradesh. The police had also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on the accused Arpit Tiwari. He has been arrested and sent to jail. Tiwari had sheltered the main accused of Bikru Kand and his associates in a room on a tubewell in his farm after the incident. The police were constantly looking for him.

On July 2, 2020, Vikas Dubey, along with his accomplices, had laid siege to the police in his village Bikru and killed eight policemen, including the CO. Vikas Dubey, his nephew Amar Dubey, Prabhat, Mishra and other accomplices fled from the spot after committing the murder. They had then fled and reached the house of Arpit Tiwari, a resident of Kariya Jhala village under the Mangalpur police station area of the district. From here, Arpit had accommodated everyone in the room on the tubewell in his farm. Arpit had arranged for them from eating and drinking to sleeping.

On the second day, Vikas Dubey had escaped from here in a car with his companions and arms. Arpit was continuously absconding since the matter came to the notice. Last year, when the STF caught a case of arms smuggling related to Vikas Dubey, the full picture of his absconding and his helpers also came to light. Since then, the police were continuously searching for Arpit Tiwari. The Kanpur police had arrested him on January 19 and sent him to jail.
