Meerut: In Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, the infamous vehicle thief and junk mafia Haji Iqbal, while taking action under the Gangster Act, has been seized by the police of his property worth Rs 10 crore. During the operation on Sunday, November 21st, a huge crowd had gathered there, but no one refused to protest because of the security arrangements.

Police and PAC teams from Lalkurti and Sadar police stations in Meerut district along with ASP Cantt and other administration officials were also deployed on the spot during the operation. During the nearly two-hour operation, the police seized two houses of Iqbal and sealed them. According to ASP Cantt, the estimated value of these houses is estimated at Rs 10 crore. The police team went in front of the vehicle thief Haji Iqbal's house and got it done and read out the DM's order. This was followed by the seizure of house number 29 followed by house number 30A. ASP himself visited both the houses and conducted videography of the goods kept there.

Meanwhile, the police announced that buying and selling the property was a legal offence. Iqbal's family had reportedly already removed the valuables from the houses before the police operation. Haji Iqbal is a resident of Patel Nagar in Sadar Bazar and has six cases registered against him in different police stations of the city. The police had recently arrested Haji Iqbal and his sons- Afzal, Imran and Abrar and sent them to jail. After this, this action has been taken against the accused under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act 1986.
