BADAUN: A man charged with abducting a girl from another community, reportedly  killed himself at a guest house in Badaun while he was on the run.

The dead was identified as Aleem, aged 25, a resident of Nawabganj in Bareilly. He was accused of abducting a Hindu girl from the district.

While the girl was recovered from New Delhi and handed over to her family members, Aleem was absconding.

Superintendent of Police (City) Amit Kishor Srivastava said Aleem was staying at a guest house in Lavela Chowk in Civil Lines police station limits for the past few days. On Monday night, the police said, he shot himself to death.
His roommate Alam, who was also Aleem's friend, told the authorities about Aleem's suicide.

Srivastava said, several of Aleem's pals shunned him when the police detained them for interrogation in the kidnapping case. He was under duress because even his relatives had broken their relations with him. He said, Aleem allegedly had a photo of himself and the girl with him at the time of his suicide.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and investigation was going on, the officer said.
