FARRUKHABAD: After turning up drunk for duty, , the headmaster of a primary school in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad district is accused of harassing and physically attacking girl students.

The headmaster allegedly came to school drunk and molested girl students on March 21. The headmaster has been suspended by the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA), and a departmental investigation has been opened against him.

Sant Kumar Patel, a station house officer (SHO), said: "Police teams have been sent to arrest the 40-year-old headmaster, who is absconding. The parents of the victims submitted a complaint, and the Amritpur police station has now opened an investigation under section 354 of the Indian Criminal Code (attack or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and the POCSO Act."

The SHO said, "Further action will be taken against the accused if all the victims are produced before the magistrate to record their statements." In the meantime, after hearing about the incident, upset locals went to block education officer Anoop Singh and voiced their complaints. Senior administrators in the district government were also alerted by certain people.

The accused headmaster was allegedly discovered intoxicated and partially naked inside the school last August. He caused a commotion, for which he was suspended. He was reinstituted by the BSA on January 20 of this year.
