UP Yogi-govt cancels leaves of police personnel till May 4

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government announced late Monday cancelled the leaves of all police personnel in the state till May 4.

Those on leave have been told they must return within 24 hours. In a statement, the Chief Minister's office said, "All administrative/police officers' leave has been cancelled until May 4 with immediate effect, from SHO, CO, and district police heads to district magistrates and divisional commissioners. Those who are currently on leave must return to their original assignment within 24 hours." Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued the instructions in anticipation of upcoming celebrations.

He also ordered officials at all levels, from the police station to the ADG, to hold talks with religious leaders and eminent personalities over the next 24 hours to maintain peace during the upcoming holidays.

More directives include the deployment of additional police officers in high-risk areas, increased foot monitoring, and the use of drones to monitor the situation. Police response vehicles (PRVs) have been told to stay on the road.
