Good news for Aadhaar cardholders! The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced an extension of the deadline for free Aadhaar document updates. Starting from December 14, 2023, the facility will now be available at no cost until March 14, 2024.

UIDAI made this announcement recently, stating that due to a positive response from residents, they have decided to extend the free service for an additional three months. This means individuals can continue to update their Aadhaar card details without any charge through the myAadhaar portal until the new deadline.

The earlier deadline for the free Aadhaar update was supposed to end on December 14. However, now individuals have until March 14, 2024, to update their information. This includes crucial details such as name, address, and additional information related to marriage or death.

Residents can make these updates for free either online via UIDAI's website or by visiting Common Services Centres (CSC). It's important to note that while the service is free on the myAadhaar portal, physical Aadhaar centers will still charge a fee of ₹50 for the same service, as previously mentioned by UIDAI.

The UIDAI has been encouraging people to upload their Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents to ensure their demographic details are up to date, especially for those whose Aadhaar cards were issued a decade ago and have not been updated since.

How to Update Your Aadhaar Card for Free:

Log in to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ using your Aadhaar number.

Select the 'proceed to update address' option.

You'll receive a one-time password (OTP) on your registered mobile number.

Click on ‘Document Update’, and your existing details will be displayed.

Verify the details; if correct, click on the next hyperlink.

Choose Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents from the dropdown list in the next screen.

Upload scanned copies of the address proof and select the 'Submit' button to update your documents.
