New Delhi: During The Energy Transition Dialogues hosted by the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) in New Delhi, US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, underscored the pivotal role of India in the eyes of the United States. He referred to India as the "most important country" for the US and emphasized that their relationship is the most defining relationship of the century.

Garcetti revealed that when President Joe Biden proposed his appointment as the US Ambassador to India, he made it clear that India holds the utmost significance for him. This proclamation signified the unprecedented regard that President Biden has for India, as Garcetti noted that no previous American president had made such a statement.

In his assessment, Garcetti expressed a strong belief in the significance of the US-India relationship, characterizing it as the most defining alliance of the current century. He further commended India's leadership during the G20 summit, which took place under India's presidency in September, as the "best ever in history."

Highlighting the potential for business and investment opportunities, Garcetti identified the renewable energy sector as a key area for collaboration in both the Indian and US markets. He emphasized the potential for companies from both nations to leverage opportunities in each other's markets. In the context of climate action, he encouraged the exploration of opportunities for Indian companies in the US and vice versa.

Garcetti acknowledged India's Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which offers tax benefits to companies engaged in solar manufacturing and electrolysers, as a noteworthy initiative. He also stressed the need for a more expedited flow of investments from both sides to further enhance the cooperation and economic ties between the two countries.
