US CDC endorses Moderna Covid vaccine post FDA's full approval

WASHINGTON – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has approved a vaccine adviser's recommendation to use the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine in people age of 18 and up.

The recommendation came after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave full approval to the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine on Monday. In a statement, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky remarked, "We now have another completely licenced Covid-19 vaccine."

"If you've been putting off getting vaccinated because you're waiting for permission, now is the moment to join the nearly 212 million Americans who have already finished their primary series. The CDC continues to advise patients to keep their Covid-19 immunizations up to current, including getting a booster shot if they are eligible "she stated

The CDC's vaccine advisors unanimously recommended the two-dose Moderna Covid-19 vaccine for people aged 18 and up earlier on Friday.

Spikevax is the second fully-approved Covid-19 vaccine in the United States, following Pfizer-version. BioNTech's. Spikevax has received full FDA approval, indicating that it passes the agency's stringent safety, efficacy, and manufacturing quality standards.
