Washington: Due to Corona epidemic, there have been many changes in the work of all countries. Meanwhile, the US has made a big change in its policy to challenge China's claim on almost the entire South China Sea. Announcing this, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has called China's claim on the disputed maritime zone illegal. He said in his statement that Beijing's expansionist claims on most of the South China Sea are completely illegal.
This is probably the first time when Washington has declared China's claim as false. During this drastic standoff, the crisis of military tension in both countries has increased further. Provoking this move, China accused the US of exaggerating the situation in the area. The Chinese embassy said in a statement, "the US government is trying to create a divide between China and other regional countries." Meanwhile, Pompeo also said on Monday that the bossing around campaign by China to control almost the entire marine area rich in natural wealth is illegal and now the attitude of the American government on this will remain strict.
This is the most harsh statement of America so far about China. Pompeo declared the US policy, saying, "the world will not allow Beijing to consider it as the South China Sea as its maritime empire." The US is with its Southeast Asian partner countries to protect their maritime property rights. The authorities had expressed the apprehension a day earlier that the Trump administration might announce a new policy on the South China Sea on Monday but no decision has been taken on this for sure.
