Washington: According to a court document, a US judge in Florida on Monday ordered defence attorneys for former president Donald Trump not to reveal evidence in the case involving the classified documents to the public or media.

Trump's access to the materials was also subject to stringent restrictions imposed by US Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart's order.

The order filed on Monday stated that "The Discovery materials, together with any information derived therefrom, shall not be disclosed to the public or the news media, or disseminated on any news or social media platform, without prior notice to and consent of the United States or approval of the Court."

Additionally, it stated that Trump "shall not retain copies" and could only examine case materials "under the direct supervision of Defence Counsel or a member of Defence Counsel's staff."

The court granted the prosecution's request to impose restrictions on how the defence would be required to store and use certain documents in a motion filed last week.

Trump, the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, was indicted earlier this month on federal charges. He was charged with illegally keeping sensitive government records after leaving the White House and then attempting to obstruct an investigation by the federal government.

Trump has entered a not guilty plea to each of the 37 charges.
In a Monday interview with Fox News, he defended his handling of the boxes by stating that he had to search through them to remove personal items like golf shirts, trousers and shoes.

"I need to remove everything from my home before shipping boxes over. There were various items scattered throughout these boxes, according to Trump. I was extremely busy, as you can kind of tell.

The boxes allegedly contained magazine articles, personal items, and works of art, according to Trump's repeated claim. The boxes, according to the Justice Department, contained highly secret documents, including a plan to attack Iran.

Indicted by New York City prosecutors in connection with an alleged hush-money payment to a porn star, the former president now faces additional legal challenges.

Additionally, Special Counsel Jack Smith, who was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, is looking into Trump's alleged involvement in events leading up to his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump is also under investigation in relation to attempts to influence Georgia's US presidential election results.
