New Delhi: A petition filed in the country's largest court has sought a direction to the Central government to use the PM Cares Fund to buy corona vaccine, set up oxygen plants in 738 district hospitals and provide necessary medical equipment. The petition has been filed by apex court counsel Viplav Sharma.
The petition said that MLAs/MPs from all states should also be directed to use MP/MLA funds with full transparency in their assembly/parliamentary constituencies in the event of this disaster. Viplav Sharma has also appealed in the petition to ensure and provide medical oxygen supply to all private and charitable hospitals for their patients. For this, the Central and State Governments should be directed to ensure this. At the same time, the petition seeks directions to the state governments to construct electric-based crematoria in all cities and improve the condition of existing electric-equipped crematoria.
Sharma in his petition said that due to lack of oxygen, the court is refusing to admit corona patients due to lack of hospitals and facilities, so the court should allow the use of PM Cares Fund to set up oxygen plants in all 738 district hospitals. The petition also challenged the central government's notification on April 24 to remove import duty on medical equipment for three months.
