Bulandshahr: A heartbreaking incident has come to light in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district, where a mother beheaded her 13-month-old innocent son and then committed suicide. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Kumar Singh said that 23-year-old woman Jitendri was mentally challenged and her husband works as a tailor in Rajasthan.

Jitendri on Thursday allegedly beheaded her infant son in Vijay Nagalia and then jumped from the roof of her house. Jitendri's sister-in-law said that she heard someone jumping from the roof, when she could not find Jitendri and her son in the room, she reached the terrace, where she saw the corpse of the child. She told the police that they started searching for Jitendri and found a room in an abandoned house in the backyard, locked from the inside.

When they opened the room, they saw that Jitendri was found lying unconscious with injury marks around the neck. She died on the way to the hospital. Police said a sickle, a packet of poisonous substance and a milk bottle have also been recovered from the body. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and further investigation is underway.
