Bareilly: On the occasion of Holi, a mosque in the Baheri police station area of the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh was accused of throwing gulal. Not only that the people playing Holi beaten up by the mob of attackers, but also scuffled with the police force who came to the rescue. The police had to resort to lathi-charge to manage the situation on the spot. In this incident, the police have registered an FIR against those who blocked the road and assaulted Hindus.

 

In the entire case, Samajwadi Party MLA Ataur Rahman had also demanded registration of an FIR against those who threw gulal on the mosque. Based on the video footage, the rest of the miscreants are being identified. The incident took place on March 18, 2022 (Friday). According to police, an attempt was also made to jam the Nainital highway after Gulal fell. The police then had to use force. In another video that has gone viral in the same incident, a mob is seen beating up two bike riders. Tagging the video to the UP Police, Himanshu Patel, district minister of 'Rashtriya Yogi Sena' of Bareilly district, tweeted, "The deadly attack on two bike-borne Hindu brothers who were passing by Muslim people in Bareilly Bahedi has been badly beaten. Take cognizance of the matter and take action against the culprits.''

Following this, the police have also taken cognizance of the incident and assured to take action against the culprits. Ataur Rahman, SP MLA from Baheri, has accused the people playing Holi of applying colour on the Mutvalli of the mosque. He has spoken to the SSP of the district in this regard. According to media reports, a case has been registered against 40-50 unidentified persons including Rahul Gupta, Suresh Gangwar on the complaint of Mutavali Abdul Wahid. Abdul Wahid said he had prevented them from playing Holi near the mosque.

According to Bareilly district Superintendent of Police Dehat Rajkumar Agarwal, "The dispute started with gulal falling at the shrine. One community protested and a case was registered against some people. After this, people left, but then a group started a chakka jam on the Nainital highway. When an attempt was made to stop them, they also misbehaved with the police. The police removed them after using force. An FIR will also be lodged against those who set up the jam. There is peace on the spot.''
