Lucknow: A 10-year-old boy was allegedly hanged to death while rehearsing the execution scene of Shaheed Bhagat Singh for an Independence Day function in a village under Kunwar village police station area of Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Badaun Senior Superintendent of Police Sankalp Sharma said that when the matter came to his notice, he sent a team led by the police station in charge of Kunwar village to the village on Friday but the family members did not give any information on how the boy died.

Some villagers told police that the child slipped off the stool while rehearsing the play and died after being hanged. He said the police team is investigating and further action will be taken based on the facts that come out after the investigation. According to locals, Shivam, the 10-year-old son of Bhure Singh, a resident of Babat village, was rehearsing Bhagat Singh's play to be screened at the Independence Day function along with other children from the locality.

Meanwhile, Shivam slipped from the stool and died during the rehearsal of the execution scene. After the incident, the other children panicked and started shouting, after which people nearby rushed to the spot and brought Shivam down from the snare, but by then he was dead. The family later cremated him without informing the police. According to village pradhan Bhimsen Sagar, "The children were playing games and Shivam's parents were not at home at the time of the incident. It was in the game that Shivam was hanged around his neck and died.''
