Ghaziabad: A case of knife attack on a sleeping saint on the premises of Devi temple in the Dasna area of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh has come to light. The saint, who was seriously injured in the attack, has been admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Ghaziabad in a hurry where he is being treated. Meanwhile, the attackers are said to be absconding since the incident, which is being searched. The injured saint is said to be Nareshananda who hails from Samastipur in Bihar.

Swami Ganeshananda is said to be a disciple of Mahant Narsimhanand. Sureshanand was attacked at 3 am while he was sleeping in the temple. This is the same temple in Dasna that is often in the news. The temple came into the limelight in March this year when a Muslim minor child was beaten up here, alleging that the child had entered the temple with the intention of stealing. This was followed by several reports of attacks on mahant Narsimhanand Saraswati of the temple. Tight security is also maintained outside the temple as it remains in the news, but even then the knife attack on a saint sleeping in the temple has raised many questions.

An employee related to the temple management said that the life of mahant Narsimhanand of the temple is often in danger. He feared that the attackers may have come with the intention of killing Narsimhanand, but when he failed to attack him, he attacked the saint sleeping in the courtyard with knives and fled.
