In the Vikas Dubey encounter case, Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has filed an affidavit in the top court. The UP government said that a commission has been set up to investigate the entire matter. Vikas Dubey was a 'dreaded gangster' who mercilessly killed eight policemen. People have many misconceptions about the encounter.

In his affidavit, Yogi government said that the vehicle was overturned due to rain and high speed. Police personnel in the vehicle were seriously injured. Vikas Dubey snatched a pistol from one of the injured policemen. He was asked to surrender, but he refused to do so and opened fire on the police. The apex court had said that in the Hyderabad case, the way the court ordered an inquiry under the supervision of a retired judge of the apex court, we are also considering this case on the same lines. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court, citing its order in the Hyderabad encounter case, said that "We can do something as we did in that case."

In this case, advocate Ghanshyam Upadhyay and advocate Anoop Awasthi of Mumbai have filed a PIL in the Supreme Court. The petition has also demanded an inquiry into the role of the UP police. However, the petition was filed late night before the encounter, in which Vikas Dubey was also feared to have an encounter. The case will be heard on Monday.
