Hamirpur: A court in Hamirpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Friday sentenced a youth convicted for kidnapping and raping a Dalit teenager 11 years ago to life imprisonment and was also fined. Public Prosecutor Prakash Chandra Goswami has given this information on Sunday.
Giving information about the case, he told that, "Ranjit Singh abducted a 16-year-old Dalit teenager, resident of a village under Kurara police station area, on the evening of March 24, 2008. She was abducted and raped by keeping her in her house for two days. Police recovered the girl from the house of the accused and registered a case.
Advocate Goswami has stated that, "On Friday, SC / ST Act Special Judge G. Prasad's court convicted the accused Ranjit after hearing the arguments of the advocates of both the parties and on the basis of the evidence present in the letter, they were proved guilty of rape. Sentenced to life imprisonment, besides imposing a fine of eleven and a half thousand rupees on him.
