Lucknow: A case of molestation of Kanwariyas has come to light in Khaggusarai in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, the Kanwariyas returning from Haridwar were spat from the rooftops in Sambhal, stones were thrown at them, as well as their way was blocked. When the Kanwariyas opposed it, the controversy started. Even after the police were present, there was an uproar and there was a clash between the two sides. The Kanwariyas say that people from a particular community have spoiled their Kanwar.

Angry with this attitude of the people of the particular community,  Kanwariyas are protesting. At the same time, the top police officials are trying to convince them. Kanwariyas are saying that they were returning when stones were thrown at them from the rooftops. According to them, they have also made a video of the stone pelting on them. BJP leader Rajesh Singhal said, "The people of Kanwar were stopped and pelted with stones by some unknown communal elements with the intention of vitiating the atmosphere of Sambhal.''

Singhal said that when he came to know about this, he too reached the spot and tried to convince the Kanwariyas. After this, all the Kanwariyas were transported to their village by the administration. Singhal further said that the Kanwariyas have demanded the arrest of the accused and they too want the administration to take strict steps against those who have tried to vitiate the atmosphere. Sambhal SP Chakresh Mishra said in this case that the Kanwariyas has alleged that someone had thrown water or spit on them from the roof. Since the police were stationed at the spot at that time, everyone was persuaded and taken forward. But, on their complaint, an FIR has been registered under sections 153A, 295, and 336 of the IPC.

Mistreatment of Kanwariyas in Muslim-dominated areas:-

Let us tell you that, this is not the first incident of abuse of Kanwariyas in the handle, ever since the holy month of Sawan has started and the devotees of Shiva have come out on the streets with the Kanwariyas, some more such incidents have also been seen. It is also worth noting that most of the incidents have taken place in Muslim-dominated areas. On July 19, someone threw away a piece of meat on a Kanwar yatra in Delhi's Muslim-dominated Seelampur area. In Meerut also, there was a case of youths of the Muslim community spitting on the Kanwariyas. In the Ibrahimpur village of Moradabad also, Muslim women had blocked the road by putting up cots on the way to Kanwariyas.
