LUCKNOW: In a bid to contain water-borne diseases in the state, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has launched a state-wide surveillance drive from Tuesday, September 7,  under which the health officials will be going house-to-house and identify people with viral fever, Covid symptoms, and other diseases arising out of the seasonal vagaries.

Health teams have been directed to spray anti-larva and undertake fogging drives in the areas where more than one dengue patient is found. People have also been advised to take precautionary measures to check the breeding of mosquitoes in and around their houses.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing a high-level meeting on Tuesday, asked concerned officials to admit only serious patients in the OPDs/IPDs of hospitals. He said that source reduction activities should be conducted regularly in rural and urban areas as per the prescribed guidelines.

The chief minister has further ordered that sanitation and cleanliness drives are launched across the state to curb the threat of water-borne diseases by the Panchayati Raj, Urban Development Department, Nagar Panchayats, Gram Vikas, municipalities, and municipal corporations. Nodal officers have already been appointed in every district of the state to monitor the relief work in the areas affected by floods and heavy rains.
