Lucknow: Polling for two seats of the Legislative Council in Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to be held on August 11. The BJP has given tickets to Dharmendra Singh Santhwar and Nirmala Paswan in this election. The Samajwadi Party (SP) has fielded Kirti Kol, a youth leader from the tribal community. Kirti Kol had filed her nomination on August 1, but the Election Commission rejected her nomination. Due to the cancellation of the nomination of Kirti Kol, the BJP candidates are expected to win the election unopposed.

Let us know that the minimum age for contesting the Legislative Council election (MLC election) should be 30 years, but Kirti Kol had shown the age of 28 years in her nomination. The nomination of SP candidate Kirti Patel was rejected due to her low age. Kirti Kol filed her nomination on Monday. Kirti Kol is also the national secretary of the Samajwadi Party (SP) Mahila Sabha. Let us know that Kirti Kol comes from Mirzapur district and she is the daughter of former MLA Bhai Lal Kol.

Kirti Kol had also contested the 2022 assembly elections but had to face defeat. Kirti Kol had contested from Chhanbe assembly seat in the Mirzapur district. Kirti Kol comes from the tribal community. Akhilesh Yadav's party had tried to send a message by fielding Kirti Kol that the SP is not anti-tribal.
