Lucknow: A saint who was seeking alms was stabbed to death with an axe by a youth in Village Mallahanpurwa under Thana Satrikh area of Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. The police have given information in this regard. Police, who rushed to the spot after getting information about the murder, arrested the accused and seized the axe used in the murder from him.

Police have informed that 60-year-old Ramchandra Mallah, a resident of Village Damariya Majre Lavalai under Chinhat area of Lucknow police station Chinhat area of the district, was a sadhu and used to roam around and earn his living by asking for alms. Police said that on Friday evening, when he was walking around the village, there was an argument with a woman of the village after being heard, due to which a youth Alok Nishad, who was standing nearby, attacked the sadhu with an axe, leading to the death of the sadhu.

Acting on a tip-off, Police Area Officer Sadar Navin Singh along with a police team rushed to the spot. The police arrested the accused youth and seized the axe used in the murder from him. Superintendent of Police in charge Purnendu Singh said that the matter is being investigated after taking the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
