Ghaziabad: Police have busted a gang of fake currency makers in Ghaziabad adjoining Delhi and arrested seven persons including the mastermind. According to police, the accused were working on fake currency notes from Islamnagar in the Nagar Kotwali area. Fake currency notes worth Rs 6.59 lakh have been recovered from them. These include fake notes ranging from 100 to 2000. The gang mastermind said he had learnt how to make fake notes from YouTube and within about four months he had become an expert in making fake notes.
Police said other agencies in the country have also been informed. ASP Akash Patel has informed that the SWAT team had come to know about the fake currency notes being made in the house of Yunus, a resident of Islamnagar. When the raid was conducted, fake notes, computers, scanners, printers and bundles of paper worth Rs 6.59 lakh were recovered from the house. Apart from Yunus, Aman of Kalkagarhi in Nagar Kotwali, Rahbar and Sonu alias Ganja of Kailavatta behind Moti Masjid, Azad of Chaman Colony, Alam alias Ashish from Raj Compound in Lalkuan and Furkan Abbasi of Purana Kailash Nagar in Vijayanagar have been arrested from the spot.
According to police information, Azad is the mastermind of the gang near the eighth pass. Azad, Sonu and Yunus used to make fake notes while other accused used to spend fake notes in the market.
