Lucknow: A sensational case of love jihad has come to light in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. A Muslim ruler here has physically abused a Dalit girl for three years by concealing his religious identity. Not only this but the accused also forcibly aborted the girl five months after she became pregnant. After the reality of the accused came to light, the girl lodged a complaint with the police. After this, the police registered a case under relevant sections and arrested the accused.  

In her statement to the police, the victim said that the accused had shown her a fake Aadhaar card of a youth named Golu to identify himself as a Hindu. This Aadhaar card had the picture of the accused. The case has come to light from the Hasanganj police station area of Unnao. The accused is a resident of the same police station area, while the victim lives in the Mal police station area of Lucknow. She told the police that she belonged to a Dalit community. The accused first approached her claiming that his religion was Hindu and then sexually abused her for three years on the pretext of marriage.

In the complaint given at Hasanganj Kotwali, it has been said that the Muslim youth, a resident of Mohan Chowki area Nagar Panchayat Mohan, had been sexually exploiting her for three years on the pretext of marriage by changing his name on his Aadhaar card. When the girl asked for marriage, the accused assaulted her. Not only this, but the accused had also forcibly aborted her five-month-old pregnancy. At the same time, as soon as the case of love jihad came to light, Hindu organizations have come forward to help the victim. Vimal Dwivedi, provincial organising secretary of Hindu Jagran Manch, has said that if the young woman does not get justice, the Hindu Jagran Manch will take to the streets.

Circle Officer Hasanganj Rajkumar Shukla has informed that a case of love jihad has been registered against the accused. The accused Shahnawaz, a resident of Nagar Panchayat Mohan, has been arrested. The accused lured the woman into a love trap by making his name Golu Verma on his Aadhaar card and sexually abusing her for three years. He had then forcibly aborted the victim at Hanumanta Hospital. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Sections 420, 406, 467, 468, 471, 376, 313, 504, 506 and SC-ST Act.
