Lucknow: Sufiyan, an accused in the murder of 17-year-old Nidhi Gupta, has been injured in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow. As per reports, the accused has a bullet injury in his leg. The accused has been caught in the Dubagga police station area. UP Police arrested Sufiyan after the encounter. After being shot, the police have taken him to the hospital for treatment. The police had placed a reward of 25 thousand on Sufiyan. Sufiyan was absconding after Nidhi's murder. 

Uttar Pradesh Police had formed 5 teams to arrest him. Sufiyan, a resident of Lucknow's Dubagga police station area, threw 17-year-old Nidhi down from the terrace. Nidhi's mother says that the accused had been torturing her daughter and threatening the family for the past several days. Accused Sufiyan wanted to marry Nidhi. At the same time, the victim's family has also talked about creating pressure for religious conversion. Joint Commissioner Law and Order Piyush Mordia had told that the houses of Nidhi Gupta and the accused Sufiyan are in the neighborhood. 

As per reports, Sufiyan had been following Nidhi for a year and a half and wanted to befriend her. The relatives of both also knew about this. Sufiyan used to continuously visit Nidhi's house. Distressed by Sufiyan, Nidhi's family members also went to Sufiyan's house after complaining about him. According to the police, Nidhi was pushed off the terrace by Sufiyan. Reportedly, when Nidhi refused to marry Sufiyan and become a Muslim, the predator threw her down from the fourth floor. The police are seriously investigating the matter and are interrogating both families.
