Residents of Uttar Pradesh are in for a treat as the state government's new policy is set to offer huge discounts on car purchases. The policy, which came into effect on July 5, offers a 100% exemption on road tax for strong hybrid cars and SUVs. This move is expected to boost sales of these vehicles in the state.
Toyota's strong hybrid cars, including the Highlander SUV and the Innova Hycross MPV, are expected to see a significant price drop. The Highlander's hybrid variant, which was earlier priced between Rs 20.04 lakh and Rs 24.29 lakh, will now cost between Rs 18.37 lakh and Rs 22.25 lakh, a reduction of Rs 2.04 lakh. Similarly, the Innova Hycross, which was earlier priced between Rs 31.52 lakh and Rs 37.36 lakh, will now cost between Rs 28.93 lakh and Rs 34.26 lakh, a reduction of Rs 3.11 lakh.
Maruti's SUV, Grand Vitara, and MPV, Invicto, will also see a significant price drop. The Grand Vitara's hybrid variant will now cost Rs 1.98 lakh less, while the Invicto's price will drop by Rs 2.88 lakh.
Honda City's hybrid variant will also see a price drop of around Rs 2 lakh.
The Uttar Pradesh government's move is expected to boost sales of hybrid vehicles in the state, which have been sluggish in recent times. The government hopes that this incentive will encourage more people to opt for eco-friendly vehicles.
