Dehradun: Several important decisions were taken at a cabinet meeting on the CM office late Friday evening under the chairmanship of CM Trivendra Singh Rawat. The meeting focused on the future and education of the students in particular. In the meeting, the cabinet took decisions on 15 points. It decided to give scholarships to 42641 students belonging to scheduled caste and other backward castes. The Cabinet also allowed an amount of Rs. 8.15 crore for the last two years of the pre-metric scholarship scheme from Class IX to X.
It was also decided to increase the honorarium to 155 Sanskrit teachers studying in aided unofficial schools under managerial arrangements on the basis of their teaching experience. The focus of the Government has been particularly on education. In Uttarakhand, 22492 SC students were deprived of scholarships due to non-receipt of scholarship allocation from the centre due to 2017-18 and 2018-19.
On the same, the Uttarakhand government decided to pay this Rs 3.79 crore scholarship from its budget for the current financial year 2020-21. Similarly, under the OBC scholarship scheme, 20149 students were also allowed to pay an amount of Rs. 4.36 crore of the said scholarship. It is believed that the government's focus on next year's elections is on the backward classes. On this, the cabinet can take many more decisions keeping that in mind.
