Chardham Yatra cancelled due to corona epidemic, CM Rawat announces

Dehradun: Corona cases are registering an increase in the country as well as uttarakhand. In view of such a situation, the Tirath Singh Rawat government in Uttarakhand has decided to ban char dham yatra this year. The yatra was scheduled to begin on May 14. CM Tirath Singh Rawat today informed about the cancellation of the yatra.

On cancellation of the yatra, Rawat said, "The yatra is postponed in view of the increase in corona cases in the state. Only priests of four temples will be allowed to worship here. Chardham Yatra is closed for the people of the entire country for now. The Char Dham Yatra was scheduled to begin on May 14 with the opening of the Yamunotri temple. Last year also, the Uttarakhand Government had banned the Char Dham Yatra in the wake of corona epidemic. The state government had then started char dham yatra for devotees from July 1."

In the last week of July, the state government had allowed devotees from other states to visit Char Dham with certain conditions. Devotees visit Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarakhand as part of the famous Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. Lakhs of devotees participate in the yatra. Devotees from different states of the country reach here to join the yatra.
