Dehradun: Heavy rains have added to the problem in Uttarakhand, meanwhile, the disaster has also completely flattened the tourism business in the Kumaon division. The tourism business in Mandal has lost revenue of more than Rs. 100 crores. This time the Bengali season had just begun when three days ago there was a disaster that was never imagined. The impact of this disaster was that before the heavy rains, tourist places packed with tourists were deserted and the tourism business completely faltered.

The tourists present in the litigants of Kumaon have somehow returned to their homes after seeing the scene of landslides and road collapses due to the same disaster. All the surrounding areas including Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Bageshwar, Munsyari have almost been deserted. According to tourism professionals, there are more than 5000 small and big hotel resorts in the Kumaon Division where thousands of people have been employed. Advance bookings till November are also being cancelled.

The tourism department claims that tourists are not stranded in any place in the district due to the same heavy rainfall of 3 days. While some tourist places have been damaged. District Tourism Development Officer Lata Bisht said that the security wall and some other damage has been caused at three tourist places in the district namely Tanakpur, Champawat and Lohaghat. The loss survey is yet to be reported, but a loss of roughly Rs 10 lakh is estimated.
