Dehradun: The coronavirus, which has slowly caught pace, has now become a terror for the hearts and minds of people. The number of people dying from this virus is constantly increasing. There have been more than 9 lakh infected so far. Uttarakhand government will distribute free rice for the prevention of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, so that people do not get upset due to the lockdown. Every ration card holder (Antyodaya and priority) under the National Food Security Scheme will be given five-five kg extra rice per member for three months free. On Wednesday, the government has issued orders to all districts in this regard.

According to the order issued by the Secretary Food Supply, this benefit is to be given to about 62 lakh people of the 13 lakh families covered under the National Food Security Scheme under the scheme. All will be given five kilograms of rice per month for three months, April, May and June. This means that if there are five members registered in a ration card, then that family will get 25 kg of rice every month for free.

It is also being said that the data will be prepared separately: As of now it has been learned that under the public distribution system from the government, ration cards are being given in advance to the ration card holders in advance. The Secretary has instructed all districts to start distributing free five kg rice to Antyodaya and priority families under the scheme. Districts where April ration has been distributed, should also be given there. The record of rice to be distributed under the scheme will be prepared separately. So that there is no problem in claiming subsidy from the center.
