Dehradun: Preparations for Panchayat elections in Uttarakhand have begun. The state government has worked after the Order of the Nainital High Court. The court has ordered the state government to hold Panchayat elections within four months. Meanwhile, a round of meetings on the process of reservation has begun on the part of the government. The State Election Commission has also been engaged in its preparations. The special thing about this time is that those who have more than two children will not be able to contest panchayat elections.

The Act has already been passed by the government from the Assembly. It may be mentioned that Uttarakhand has 7,797 Gram Panchayats, 95 Area Panchayats and 13 Zilla Panchayats.
